About Kaitlin

Kaitlin Cross hails from the Hudson Valley, not far from Sleepy Hollow where her ancestor Katrina Van Tassel met Ichabod Crane. This provenance is perhaps why she became the horror writer she is today. Her family loved folklore and legends that made youngsters whimper with fright. As a young girl, she delighted in terrifying neighbors on Halloween with haunted mazes and hayrides. If she wasn’t scaring them, she was creating fantasy worlds inspired by Arthurian lore and Greek and Native American mythology.

It was reading V.C. Andrews and Flowers in the Attic that introduced Kaitlin to a new kind of horror—the horror of humanity. Suddenly her tales of external terror became stories of internal fear. In her narratives, Kaitlin’s characters are challenged with chaos, misery, and terror only to discover liberation from their hell in the end.

Understanding the need to fine tune her craft, Kaitlin attended Full Sail University and graduated with a B.F.A. in Creative Writing. Her insight and love for Steinbeck and Faulkner aided her in receiving an award for Literary Critiques and Analysis. Her most recent project is a Young Adult novel entitled Arcane Valley, which follows adopted seventeen-year-old Tristan Hart as he tries to discover the truth about his birth family in a ghost-infested tourist trap.
